Neil and Ian recently visited the U-Turn boys near Stuttgart to take a peek at some of their new products. They are busy developing their Microstar range of paramotors, and they look good, real good...

U-Turn have set themselves some impressive goals this year - a new world-beating acro wing the G-Force 360 (tick), a new comp wing the Airforce (tick), a new and improved Infinity II (tick), a new top-end DHV 1-2 the Obsession (in work), and a full range of paramotors!!

Northern have taken a back-seat in the paramotor stage over the last few years after an early toe-dipping exercise about 10 years ago. Recently we have had more and more interest from prospective paramotor pilots, both regular free-flyers and dedicated motor-heads. In fact paramotoring is the fastest growing element of the BHPA (apparently).

So, it was kind of fate when Thomas at U-Turn told us of his ambitious project - a range of 5 motors! On the visit we got the chance to talk about their plans and fly the latest proto. Their design brief is exciting - a range of 5 motors that can be fitted to the same chassis, making a flexible product, easy to stock and easy to keep spares. In addition they will be completely dismantleable into a sturdy packing case and be the quiestest paramotors on the market.

What turbine?

To achieve this they have invested heavily in plastic moulding machines etc and sourced quality components from around the world. All the motors will be finished in Germany to U-Turns exacting standards.

Certainly the proto looked, and ran well. All have electric start, a very comfy harness and the quality is apparent even at first glance. Heres a sneak look at the proto, with still a fair bit to finish it. With any luck we'll have the first production models by the end of August.
